Plagiarism is a growing problem in our schools and society, largely because it is easy to find and copy information from Internet sites, and students often may not realize what constitutes plagiarism. Teaching good writing habits, knowing student writing styles, teaching students to avoid plagiarism, and attributing sources of information often correct the problem, but teachers sometimes need additional help in recognizing plagiarized writing. To help teachers, and students, many tools exist to help detect possible plagiarism.
This presentation will review, and demonstrate, several free and fee programs available to teachers to identify plagiarized writing. Free programs that can be used by teachers and students, such as Article Checker, Google, Plagiarism Checker, and WCopyFind, will be reviewed and demonstrated. Several of the most popular fee based plagiarism detection programs, Eve2, MyDropBox, and Turnitin, will also be reviewed and demonstrated.
