Teachers implement curriculum plans that include methods and strategies for applying technology to maximize student learning.

1. Word Processing In the Curriculum: There are many creative ways to use word procesing in the classroom beyond typing papers.  This lesson plan uses the pwer of word processing to help students learn the structure of narrative, a Langauge Arts Core Curriuculum Objective. Description: In this lesson students are presented with a computer file containing the story of the Lion and the Mouse but with the sentences scrambled into a random order.  The students work in teams using a word processor to put the sentences in the correct order to tell the story.  They use graphics software to create illustrations and then put all their work together to create their own picture book.
Reflection:  Word processors are such powerful tools I think that teachers should get students using them as soon as possible.  Beyond just typing papers there are many tasks and activities that can be accomplished using this software that not only make students more familiar with the basic tools (keyboarding, spell checking, cutting/pasting) but at the same time teach a wide variety of curriculum as well.
