| Finally a web-based course with a human face. All of Prof. Nickerson's lectures have been recorded and digitized so that students can watch them any time. Over 150 mini-lectures are available that explain and expound course content contained in the text book. Prof. Nickerson is an instructor who is excited about his subject and who loves to teach. Every mini-lecture is illustrated with slides that add interest and information. | |
|
With RealPlayer 2. The slide window displays still images that illustrate the lecture. 3. The menu window displays a menu for navigating through the video portions of the current lesson. |
| Video streaming is memory intensive and it requires a greater bandwidth than most Internet applications. Viewing the videos takes a fairly powerful computer and a fast connection. Though not for everybody streaming works very well for students who are able to access the course from school or campus computers with T1 speeds. The media presentations are also available on CD-ROM for students who cannot receive the streaming video. | |
