at SUU offers all of the coursework necessary for the Library Media
minor and the Utah Library Media Endorsement (both undergraduate
and graduate). All courses are available
on the Internet.

MASTER
OF EDUCATION - SCHOOL LIBRARY MEDIA ENDORSEMENT
The
Master's of Education with an emphasis on Library Media leading
to an LM endorsement is intended for students who have or are getting
their teaching license and are interested in advancing their teaching
careers or working in a school library media center. This program
brings flexibility and advancement to your career path.
The advantages of this program are:
It is state
approved with courses offered by the Library Media Department
and the Graduate College of Education.
Courses
are online allowing you to "attend" class when it fits
your schedule.
You receive
the benefits of working on an M.Ed. and a school library endorsement
at the same time.
In-service
teachers will meet the requirements for the Utah Library Media
K-12 endorsement.
It is a
42 hour program.
Twelve hours
of previous graduate work may be accepted into the program with
the approval of the Graduate School.
Requirements and Coursework
Forty-two credits are required for the M.Ed.
with Library Media Emphasis. Course work must be completed during
the six years prior to application for license. Twelve graduate
credit hours may be accepted toward the degree.

GRADUATE
LIBRARY MEDIA ENDORSEMENT
All candidates must have a Utah elementary or secondary teaching
degree and license.
Requirements and Coursework
Eighteen credits are required for graduate
licensure and must be completed during the six years prior to application
for license. Twelve credits must be taken through SUU.
The Library
Media Endorsement program provides the courses required for the
Utah School Library Media License (K-12). The student must currently
have, or be seeking, a valid Utah teaching license.
Requirements and Coursework
The undergraduate endorsement requires 18
credits and must be completed during the six years prior to application
for license. Twelve credits must be taken through SUU.
Completion of the coursework and student teaching
does not automatically guarantee a recommendation by the department
for state endorsement in Library Media. To be recommended for licensure,
a student must complete the program with a grade point average of
3.0 or higher and demonstrate competency in the coursework with
potential to work effectively with both students and teachers. The
student must also currently have a valid Utah teaching license before
being awarded final endorsement in Library Media.
