Current Events

Dia de los Muertos (October 19th - November 2nd) - This year we're also participating with the campus-wide celebration of Day of the Dead and, in honor of Jerry Sherratt, we'll be constructing an altar around his bust that's located in the lobby on our 1st Level. The altar will be present from October 19th through November 2nd. We'll also displaying some of the art of Justin Favela, a Las Vegas artist who created a large-size pinata and wall hanging for the event. Justin will be here on October 14th to install his work. In addition, we'll have Day of the Dead images and crayons available for anyone who would like to relax and do some coloring

Entrepreneurship Club (October 20th) - Janet Borg in the Development Office oversees the activities of this dynamic club and the Library is now partnering with them! We'll have a book display and advertising for their speaker series, the next installment of which will occur on the 20th.

SUU Photography Club Fall Exhibit (October 21st) - The Photography Club will again display exemplary, juried work on the walls of the Library Garden Level, which will begin with a reception, complete with treats, at 4:00 p.m.

Night of Haunted Images (October 24th) - This will be our 3rd annual Halloween Horror Film Festival, this year featuring two horrific classics: Horror Hotel and Legend of Boggy Creek. The evening will begin at 7:00 p.m. and include snacks and drinks, a talk by Dr. Kyle Bishop, a reading of an original story by our very own Christopher Clark, will take place outdoors, on the lawn between the library and 200 South (weather permitting)!

Patrick Madden Reading (November 7th) - BYU author Madden will read from his collections of essays. This event, which is offered in conjunction with SUU Art of Literature series, will take place on the Garden Level.

Recent Past Events

Coming Out Day (October 11th) - The library participated in this campus-wide celebration. We screened the film Bill T. Jones: Still/Here with Bill Moyers and in front of the library we presented "Stanzas and Sweets," readings from a selection of LGBTQ Poems. Of course, there was also a book display of LGBTQ reads on the 1st Level counter just below the monitor. Lastly, Jayci Bash is created rainbow ribbons available for anyone who wanted to wear a ribbon to demonstrate her/his support for Coming Out Day.
